With its headquarters in Wote, Makueni lies in south-eastern Kenya, bordering Machakos, Kitui, Taita Taveta and Kajiado. Its landscapes support diverse farming communities, from fruit-growing areas to the greener uplands.
The county has six constituencies: Makueni, Mbooni, Kibwezi East, Kibwezi West, Kaiti and Kilome. Together they comprise 30 electoral wards. The Akamba community forms a central part of the county’s cultural heritage.
